Shit Fruit Bowl
Vitra Design Workshop with Jerszy Seymour / august 2003 / Boisbuchet (F)

Neal Panchuk and I made a nice fruit bowl out of horse droppings. The aim was to conceive objects with what is growing or being created around us, almost in the sense of an autonomous farm/factory.
Horses digest grass and hay so that it can be used as a construction material. We had to cook and dry out the horse droppings, as well as dyeing the mass before we could mold it into a bowl.

This project was very interesting in terms of design research, and an enriching experience when it comes to natural materials. We finally came to the conclusion that there are a lot of possibilities what the already existing world. There still is the possibility to be creative with simple things that are available around us. The word waste gains a new meaning.
