The Mendel Heit Design Lab.
Mendel Heit is a product designer living and working in Berlin. He's mainly working on research projects, as well as co-designing and cooperating with other agencies. His works go towards interaction, 3d-Printing, new (generative) shapes, innovative concepts, intelligent & sustainable solutions, hardware hacking as well as diy/open-source ways of thinking and making.
Working together with people from different backgrounds (IT, gfx, Art, scientists, engineers..) is a great experience and inspires him a lot.
He worked with Coordination Berlin, ITD Braunschweig and ART+COM. Also worked a couple of years at the Jerszy Seymour Design Workshop on several products, exhibitions and art shows (Vitra, Moulinex, Magis, etc..).
He also enjoys the great experience to work with glass with the CIAV of Meisenthal (F). he studied at the ENSA Nancy (F) , and then at the HBK-BS (D), on projects for VW, die Bahn, and other companies. Before that, he participated in a vitra design workshop with J.Seymour & Azumis, Boisbuchet (F), and a great stage with Georges Rousse.
Since 2009, he also appears/contributes to the Palomar5 Network, and started new projects involving DIY, bioplastics, and fab labs within the same spirit
In 2010, a co-operation on bioplastics research started with Jay Cousins and Christopher Doering. Also Mendel is a member of OpenDesignCity, "Open Design City is a space that encourages the sharing of tools, knowledge, ideas and skills."
