Y-Table

The Y-Table is not a finished object. It is a customizable workstation that is CNC fabricated, built
only on-demand to help resolve the common creative questions of its users. As a sustainable
approach, it is a customizable idea designed to facilitate specific production processes while
keeping material excess to a minimum. The Y-Table always keeps its distinctive three-partite
form, but its dimensions and surface-features vary from use to use, from site to site.

The Y-Table [Anxious Prop version] It was originally conceived by The Anxious Prop for its “Case 3: The Black Swan Issue” at Salon Populaire, Berlin in 2010.

The Y-Table [Makerlab version] was designed for the Makerlab Milan, 2011 – A second prototype, The Y-Table: MakerLab Version, was built as a curatorial device for the Open Design City’s Maker Lab at the Salone del Mobile of the Public Design Festival, Milan, 2011.
At the festival, the Y-Table was used by the Maker Lab, providing them with a sturdy workbench and a conference table, where activities such as carpentry, Arduino electronics, and social dialogue could be mediated. It was donated to OpenDesignCity Berlin / Betahaus Berlin

The Y-Table [DAZ version]
